What is it like putting together a new DH team?
It’s amazing. Mark, Troy and I were obviously friends already and we all get along great. I think that was a big point with the team coming together the way it has. Having Fabien, a multiple World Champion, on board has been a great experience and I feel that we’ll all work well together and we’ll make this team a success.
How important is it to be on a factory team with an active role in bike development?
If you have a bike company behind you that is willing to work as hard to achieve as you are, then you can work together really well. I think it’s an amazing partnership and something that I’m really looking forward to. Getting to see how much effort Canyon puts into their R&D and designing bikes is really inspiring, and I think we’ve got amazing support here to take this team to the top.
What are your goals for 2017?
Hopefully I’ll be hitting some goals that I’ve had laid out for a while. I really want to start to break in to the top ten in the world. Last year, I had my personal best result with a ninth placing and this year, I’ve finally been able to go full-time and really put the effort in to try and get in the top ten more consistently.
Which race are you most looking forward to?
It’s always difficult for me to look past Fort William. Being Scottish and it being the only World Cup race in Britain, it’s a huge race and to put in a good result in front of the home crowd would be pretty special!
