What were some of the most memorable moments from the 2017 season? On or off the bike.
One of the most memorable moments from the 2017 season for me was Round 5 in Millau, France, because of the French spectators who were cheering French riders, that was really cool. New Zealand also sticks out as it was so hard, it rained a lot and we were riding the stages blind, it was the most difficult race I have ever done.
Which race is your favourite?
My favourite race is the EWS in Ireland because the stages on the small hill are really fast, each one is like a downhill race and the Irish spectators are so fun, they were dressed up and cheering everybody! It was awesome.
If you could pick anywhere to have a EWS event, where would it be and why?
Maybe in the hills behind Nice because the terrain is really well suited, it’s like a playground for me!
What are your goals for 2018?
I am new at Canyon this year and all my training has gone up another level, it’s more serious than ever. I am lucky to work with Fabien Barel who gives me advice and pushes me to the top. He was pretty good in his day, so I hope I can do the same!
Which race are you looking forward to most in 2018?
I am looking forward to the round in Austria because I have never been there. It is really new, I can’t wait to see what it will be like.
What’s your favourite bike?
The Strive is really dynamic, I have been impressed by the Shapeshifter which changes the angle of the bike and raises the BB so it pedals really well. The new Torque is super stable with the extra travel, just like a mini DH bike.
