What were some of the most memorable moments from the 2017 season? On or off the bike.
The year started with the tragic loss of good friend and Canyon boss Flo. This shook the team but we all came together at round one and put focus on the racing from the start. That first trip to New Zealand and Tasmania was then a highlight to start the year for me in the top-10 and start the buzz for the whole season.
Which race is your favourite?
My favourite event was the Whistler round of the EWS. The trails are really technical, a bit like my trails at home but on a much bigger scale. So when it’s time to race it’s a great mix of gnarly roots and rocks combined with some of the longest stages of the season. A true test and great fun.
If you could pick anywhere to have a EWS event, where would it be and why?
It would have to be Kinlochleven in the Scottish Highlands. I love the raw mountain trails and endless loose rock gardens. I organised a fun race there in the past and people loved it! It would be a wild ride for sure.
What are your goals for 2018?
I have been building well on last years form this off-season and feel really comfortable coming into the first races. My goal is to better my previous series standing and go top-5 for the 2018 ranking. All focus is on the EWS and riding strong for the full season.
Which race are you looking forward to most in 2018?
With four new venues I am excited to see what this will bring. I think the round in Slovenia looks like a particular highlight and somewhere I want to visit.
What’s your favourite bike?
I would have to go for the Spectral as it’s my go-to trail bike while at home at the moment. Since the new model came it’s been great learning the new bike and I’ve been loving the mucky winter rides on it.
