How will you approach 2018 differently to 2017?
There are quite a few changes to our material this year with Fox and Shimano on board. I’m really glad to be back on the setup I had earlier in my career. There’s also something very special coming soon and that will be a real game changer for us so stay tuned…
Which race do you most look forward to?
In a way Cape Epic, even though it is always super tough and stressful. During the season I love the Italian races, they are always bit more relaxed and those types of courses are usually good for me. This year the World Champs is later in the season, on a track that should suit me so this is definitely my biggest goal and focus!
How do you train off the bike?
Lately I started to do more TRX suspension training and this winter I got some very good training hours on the Nordic skis.
What element of your setup could you not do without?
There is nothing really all that special about my setup, I’m a pretty standard guy in this respect!
Any tips for the rest of us on an effective training session?
For sure you have to work on all the intensity zones. What works very well for me to increase the fitness are short VO2max intervals – 30seconds to 2minutes repeating. It really hurts, but you do notice the benefits.
